I do not have a username and password. Where do I obtain these?

Assuming you have ordered and arranged an online audit contract with us already, you will need to
contact our company in the first instance and we will e-mail out to you a username and password by return. Always keep these details safe and secure. If you provide us with a contact e-mail address we can add this to our database and, if you ever lose your password, by entering the e-mail address online, it can be sent out to you again automatically via e-mail.

Do I need to keep the generated electronic receipt numbers?

No.  Although this information might be considered a good “failsafe”.  For monitoring and tracking purposes you can search for data online and probably find a specific pupil just as easily using their surname and date of birth.  In some rare instances e.g. identical twins then the electronic receipt might be a better means of distinguishing individual pupils.

Can I undertake smaller scale intermediate audits between the contracted whole school analyses- for example just on a particular year group every term?

You can certainly assess pupils more frequently and focus on particular sub cohorts within your school.  You may be better using individual standalone software or seeking a small project quote for a Web-based assessment rather than using one of your whole school audit contracted assessments.  Please contact us for further advice and guidance in the first instance.

What happens if I notify you to request a report and then change my mind?

Do not initiate your P.A.S.S. report using the notification button until you are absolutely sure that you are ready for this analysis service”.  When we receive your notification for a report we try to begin the analysis as soon as possible.  If we have begun a report at your request and you change your mind there is every likelihood that we will have to charge you for additional labour costs incurred as a result.

I cannot enter information into the school name field. Why is this?

Providing you have not disabled pop-ups in your browser and have accurately entered your username and password, the school name will be added automatically and is a “dummy” read-only field.
You may delete its contents on-screen but cannot overwrite this field.

What sort of hardware/software do I need as part of my system to access P.A.S.S.?

To use P.A.S.S. online you will need:

 1.  A PC with internet connection. Most hardware specifications and Windows / Apple Mac operating systems will work fine.  A dial-up connection is sufficient to access P.A.S.S. online although broadband provides a “smoother”, more involving experience -  especially for younger pupils or those with attention difficulties.

2.
    A web browser.
Again, our system will support most common browsers including Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla-based applications.

Why can’t I return to the user interface once assessment is underway and a form is loaded on screen?

P.A.S.S. assessment forms have been designed to ensure that group auditing can be undertaken effectively with minimal supervision. As a result, however, we have had to build a barrier to prohibit students from accessing the school’s client interface using the “back” button of the Web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) from within an assessment form. This deliberate block is there for your protection
and ours!

Do I need to logon every time I wish to assess an individual pupil?

No. Once you have logged on you will remain connected to our server to allow an unlimited number
of individual pupil assessments which can be undertaken back to back without further logging on processes.  If you log off, however, and wish, for example, to re-access the client user interface, you
will obviously need to log on again.

When I try to access the user interface online I receive an error message.  What do I do next?

This effects only a handful of our clients and is usually resolved within a few minutes of a technical support call. There may simply be a temporary connection problem which could be local to your ISP or a server-side issue for us.  You could try logging off and logging on again.  If this does not work and you cannot leave auditing activities for a short time to re-try then please contact us to report the problem. A fairly complete list of possible web connection problems are:

  • Firewall settings (either school or LEA/region specific)
  • School’s use of an unusual / non-standard browser or personalised browser configuration settings
  • Wireless networks where a LAN signal might temporarily drop
  • A school server having general network / internet connection problems
  • Narrow broadband pipe (2MB instead of 8 or even 10MB – an issue where large scale simultaneous pupil access of the forms). This can partly be ameliorated by cache box systems but see below.
  • Cache box problems (used to relieve server bottlenecks but can become blocked & need “flushing!”)
  • Local download of web pages onto school PC/server even though you know you shouldn’t

Why, when I try to locate the pupil data I have just submitted, does the “Search for Data” query button not show me the information I was expecting to be there?

There can be a short delay of up to 12 hours between you submitting data online and that information being transferred successfully to our server.  Generally speaking if you search for data the following day (or worst case leave it 3-4 hours) all of the information that you were expecting will probably appear.

Is there a shortcut available for pupils to access online assessment without logging in with a username & password every time?

Yes. To download the shortcut and configuration instructions, simply click here.

I did not receive an electronic receipt when a student submitted their data on-line. What does this mean?

If you still see a confirmation screen this is not a problem We will have the receipt number on our server - even if it was not displayed. It seems to occur very occasionally, when, for a variety of reasons,  a user session has timed out.

Cease current assessment activities and check you submissions after allowing time for our servers to be updated (usually no more than 12 hours). All should then be fine within 24 hours. If problems persist, contact us.
